We are good, quiet, and respectful neighbors of Hotel Ennea. We are not looking for a fight: we want the smoke and noise from its equipment to stop affecting our home.
We want to be good neighbors, and we expect the same respect in return.
01 / OUR STORY
The written record we have supplied now begins on January 4, 2025. It documents repeated requests for repairs, responses from Hotel Ennea personnel and ownership, attempted corrections, improvements we acknowledged when they occurred, and problems that later continued or returned.
From the beginning, we put in writing that we wanted to be good neighbors and wanted Hotel Ennea to succeed, but not at the expense of the peace of our home.
On May 6, 2026, the matter was also formalized through an Acta de Acuerdos before the Municipality of Santa María Colotepec. The timeline distinguishes between what the documents show and our account of later events.

02 / HEALTH AND REPORTED EXPOSURE
THE FAMILY’S ACCOUNT
We have reported black smoke that we identify as coming from Hotel Ennea’s diesel generator. During exposure episodes we report burning eyes and respiratory irritation, and a member of our household has experienced respiratory problems that we associate with this exposure. We do not publish that person’s name in this health account.
We have medical documentation we want to share. The public version should accurately show which symptoms were recorded, what exposure was reported and what the clinician concluded, without treating these as the same thing.
The U.S. EPA notes that diesel exhaust exposure can affect respiratory health and worsen existing lung disease. This general information does not establish the cause of an individual’s symptoms.

The municipal file now includes the May 6, 2026 Acta de Acuerdos and a new Acta de Hechos dated September 29, 2026. The new record logs the formal complaint and states that the municipality will conduct a further verification of the facts described.
Hotel Ennea’s manager commits, within no more than six months from signing, to make progress toward repairing or modifying defects causing generator noise associated with the hotel’s commercial use.
The agreement also states that the generator’s smoke exhaust will be modified to avoid environmental and health harm to neighbors.
The six-month period from May 6 runs to approximately November 6, 2026. The document uses the term “progress”; we do not present that date as an automatic certification that all work must be completely finished.
Under our understanding of the municipal process, the municipal office is also to be kept informed of progress. We present this as our understanding of the process, not as a verbatim statement from the municipal agreement.
On September 29, 2026, we appeared again before the Municipal Syndic’s Office of Santa María Colotepec with legal counsel. The Acta de Hechos identifies a formal complaint against Hotel Ennea, legal entity Operadora Turística HGP, S.A. de C.V., and references the May 6, 2026 Acta de Acuerdos MSMC/SM/84/2026.
The acta records our statement that, as of that date, the hotel manager had not complied with the earlier signed agreements. We present that point here as our statement recorded in the acta, not as a final municipal ruling that noncompliance has been established.
The new acta also records our request that the authority again summon the parties or verify the reported noise and smoke. The document states that the authority will carefully verify the facts described and will later set a hearing date, with notice to all involved parties.
The acta includes stopennea.com/#mensajes as an electronic link submitted in the municipal file to show evidence supporting the complaint. The fact that the link appears in the acta does not mean the municipality has independently validated every item published on this site.
The acta also records our report that a member of our household has experienced respiratory problems that we associate with the reported smoke. We continue to keep that person’s identity out of the public health narrative.
We are not publishing images of this acta because they contain personal identification numbers, addresses, and signatures. We retain the complete original privately.

05 / THE TIMELINE
The timeline combines dated messages, the municipal agreement, and later events clearly identified as the neighbors’ account. When there was an improvement, we record that too.
Justine introduces herself in WhatsApp as being from Ennea restaurant and offers a direct text contact. According to our account, she was the restaurant manager at the time. Our reply asks that the owners fix the system so hotel guests and neighbors can enjoy the area and says we will also speak with Sergio.

According to our account, a team worked on the generator from approximately 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. An engineer on the team spoke directly with us about the smoke and noise and told us that both were extremely unhealthy.
The engineer told us that the exhaust tube could be rerouted and filtration could be installed in the exhaust line to, in his words, “stop the contamination.” According to what he told us, he communicated these measures to the manager and owners and said they should be implemented quickly. We retain his name and contact information privately.

Although we acknowledged the 2025 improvement, we currently report that the extractor later failed again and is approximately as loud as before. We are requesting a durable repair and a proper acoustic enclosure or sound barrier so the problem does not keep recurring.

Our request is simple: correct the smoke problem, contain the noise, and restore peaceful, respectful relations between neighbors.
We are not asking for the hotel to close and we are not seeking punishment. We are asking for technical solutions that have already been discussed: reroute and filter the generator exhaust, properly repair the extractor, and enclose or acoustically isolate noisy equipment.
Implement an appropriate technical solution, including rerouting exhaust away from our home and appropriate filtration so smoke and contamination no longer reach our home.
Durably repair the extractor and noisy equipment and build a technically appropriate acoustic enclosure or sound barrier so the problem does not return.
Maintain the systems, communicate progress, and sustain respectful communication. We will publicly acknowledge genuine improvements and resolution of the problem.
